JK Jigger - In the Field
Test 1.
Since 2009 the JK Jigger has been tried and tested at Fosterville Gold mine, near Bendigo, Victoria, with great success. The JK Jiggers were originally fitted in Jumbo boxes positioned close to production and development headings. The average down time due to damaged handles has been reduced to ‘ZERO’ on these boxes. It was then decided to fit the JK Jiggers in a continuingly growing number of boxes throughout the mine. ALL boxes correctly fitted with JK Jiggers have NOT failed in that time. Due to the above success and the regular movement of boxes about the mine site in October 2011 Fosterville Gold Mine made it policy that JK Jiggers be fitted to all Jumbo, Jumbo/Pump and Pump boxes.
Note: As with all electrical fittings and fixtures the correct fitting and maintenance of the JK Jiggers must be followed to ensure full benefit of this device.
JK Jigger - In the Workshop
Test 2.
The JK Jigger (Blast suppressor) has been tested to 4,000 cycles of the ON/OFF action of the device actuating the main circuit breaker.
In the first test cycle the device withstood 3,500 cycles showing no signs of fatigue or wear and tear. A timer was set to activate an air solenoid at 5 second intervals to operate an air ram. A counter was located at the end of the OFF position. This effectively counted every second action.
In the second consecutive test using the same JK Jigger (Blast suppressor) the SWITCH failed at 873 cycles. The JK Jigger outlasted the switch with very little change.
Test 3.
In an additional test a slide hammer with a sliding 2 kilogram weight fitted on a 750mm long shaft was designed to simulate how the switch/shaft responds to sharp inward/outward movement. The Handle broke immediately leaving the
JK Jigger intact and ready to protect again. This test shows the strength of the JK Jigger. Each of these test are designed to demonstrate that the JK Jigger out lasts current Box components in the field.
JK Keeper
JK Keeper has been tried and tested at Fosterville Gold mine, near Bendigo, Victoria, with great success. The JK Keepers have been fitted in Jumbo boxes positioned close to production and development headings. The average down time due to loss of control power has been reduced to ‘ZERO’ on these boxes. ALL boxes correctly fitted with JK Keepers have NOT failed in that time. Due to the above success and the regular movement of boxes about the mine site in October 2011 Fosterville Gold Mine made it policy that JK Keepers be fitted to all Jumbo, Jumbo/Pump and Pump boxes. This has been completed and has been 100% successful.
